Wonderful TIme at Centenary Campfire

The Centenary Campfire across Sarawak was successfully organized on 16th June 2007. As many as 400 scouts and leaders from nearby districts namely Kuching, Petra Jaya and Matang have gathered here in the state headquarter witnessing as well as enjoying themselves in this event. Though it was raining cats and dogs the whole night through, this does not stop the scouting spirit to light the campfire in the rain which shall then sweep all across the state.

6 districts have joined in the event, namely Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu and Miri. However, many districts have joined hands in making it a grand camp fire in the area. For instance, Kuching, Matang and Petra Jaya in State heqdquarter while Betong is joining with Sri Aman district.

3 leaders from Kuching District were also awarded their woodbadges. They are ADC Liew May Choo (Assistant District Commissioner - Cub Scout), Sdr. Jeremy Sim (5th Kuching Scout Group) and Lau Kung Leung (5th Kuching Scout Group). The Kuching City Rover Council would like to congratulate them for the ‘long waited’ award.

Though all participants are soaking wet from the rain which poured nonstop throughout the night, guys are having much fun and pretty much enjoyed themselves getting wet while singing in the rain.

Centenary Scout Exhibition 2007

The Centenary Scout Exhibition 2007 has been organized successfully by the Sarawak State under the chairmanship of ASC Mr. Joseph Chong from 26th ~ 27th May 2007. Various surrounding districts and units from the movement have rendered their supports in making it a success.

The Kuching CIty Rover Council had participated in the event by displaying exhibits on Rovers, badges from around the world as well as a saperate booth being set up for the fund raising badge sale to subsidise the X-treme Challenge 2007 - Kota Kinabalu at the end of the year. Rovers on duty have work hard for the event by giving active supports during the event days. Due to less publicity and bad weather on the second day, the responds from the general public and members of the movement is less encouraging. Part of the exhibition area was also flooded due to heavy rain on the second day morning. However, this has not hinder the scouting spirit among the Rovers and the fellow participants. With this, the Rover Council would like to express our deepest gratitude for the hard work carried out by the temporary Rover event committee as well as the Rovers who participated in the events. SYABAS for another job well done.
