Rovering Workshop In KL

A national workshop for the management of Rover Crew was successfully organized in BP House, Kuala Lumpur from 18/5/2007 to 20/05/2007. A total of 33 participants from all over Malaysia, with 4 facilitators and 5 exprienced trainers has made it a well learning and sharing experience for all the participants. The course and workshop was led by Mr. Ahmad Tajuddin Md. Salleh (Course Leader) and assisted by a highly exprienced trainers such as Mr. Yeoh Seng Choon, Tuan Haji Jauhar B. M. Yassin, Tuan Haji Mohd. Zulkifli B. Dato’ Hj. Maulud and Mr. Ekbert Yong. The workshop touches on various topics as shown below;

6. Responsibilities of the crew council

Besides all the course notes and handouts being distributed in the workshop, a new guide book by the name of "Panduan Dan Skema Pengakap Kelana (Guidebook and Scheme for Rovers)" was published and distributed to all participants. The age range for Rovers has been revised to "18 to 26" years old as widely implemented and recognised by international scouting scene.

A new revised Rover Scout Training Scheme has been proposed whereby the previous 7 badges (3 compulsory and 4 optional badges) have been replaced by (2 compulsory and 4 optional badges). The Rover Rambu Award (Rambu Penagakap Kelana) shall also be replaced by B.P. Award. However, such scheme are still in the reviewing stage and has not been finalised by the national headquarter for adoption and usage at large. During the review, a recommendation committee, which was represented by delegates from various states; was established and a recommendation report and comments have been forwarded to the National Chief Commissioner, Kolonel Professor Dato’ Dr. Haji Kamarudin B. Haji Kachar for onward perusals. The followings are some of the recommendations being put forward by the committee;

1, To increase the level of recognition by putting BP Award on par with King Scout Award,

2, BP Award to be controlled and issued by national headquarter,

3, 7 badges was reviewed and established whereby the previous system of 3 compulsory badges and 4 optional badges shall be maintained.

4, Age for rovers shall be remained from 18 to 40 years old. However, only rovers aged from 18 to 26 years old are eligible for the rover training scheme and the BP award. A new session (proposed Senior Rovers) is studied for its feasibility to be adopted for those rovers aged 27 to 40 years old.

5, A badge to be created to be worn on uniform.

and many more. The recommendation report shall be forwarded to the national training team for studies before the new training scheme is adopted for implementation throughout Malaysia.

Centenary Sunrise

Bbq2 Dear fellow Rovers,

As the whole world is celebrating the dawn of scouting for the new centenary of scouting, (as in Centenary Sunrise), many countries and groups are having simple but yet meaningful ceremonies to mark the dawn of the new scouting centenary. (Even all participants to the world scout jamboree in UK are also celebrating the event at Brownsea Island). The state is organizing a simple BBQ gathering and opens to all Rovers, leaders and commissioners. The gathering will start at 8:30p.m. on 31st July 2007 (Tuesday) until 1:00a.m. on 1st August 2007 (Wednesday) in State Scout Headquarter, Jalan Batu lintang. A simple recital and renewal of scout promise will be held right after the clock strikes 00:00. Full uniform is not required. The fees for the BBQ is RM20 per person and if anyone of you would like to join this meaningful BBQ gathering of all rovers, leaders and commissioners from Kuching area, please pay up and contact Sdr. Woodbadge Module A Course Starts Tomorrow

Kudu horn has been blown and calling upon all eligible rovers and leaders from Zone A to participate in the Woodbadge Induction Course (Module A).

Those who are above 18 years of age and have attended the induction course are eligible to join the said course to begin their series of woodbadge training courses. Those who have completed previous introductory course with the old scheme are also eligible to continue their woodbadge training by taking this "Module A" course.

The fees for the said course is RM20/- which is inclusive of the food, the course notes and file for all notes and assignments compilation throughout the entire woodbadge training courses. Those who have not register themselves can still do so on the event day. However, places are limited.
