Mid Autumn Festival Community Service

 

The following groups will be providing community service at Wayang Street from 29th September to 3rd October 2009 from 6:00p.m. to 9:15p.m.

 

Assembly point: 人间茶坊(Life cafe), next to Berambih Lodge (Bed & Breakfast)

 

Date: 29th September 2009 (Tuesday)

Groups:          5th Kuching Scout Group (8 members)

                        23rd Kuching Scout Group (15 members)

                        40th Kuching Scout Group (4 members)

 

Date: 30th September 2009 (Wednesday)

Groups:          5th Kuching Scout Group (8 members)

                        23rd Kuching Scout Group (15 members)

                        40th Kuching Scout Group (4 members)

 

Date: 1st October 2009 (Thursday)

Groups:          23rd Kuching Scout Group (20 members)

                        40th Kuching Scout Group (4 members)

 

Date: 2nd October 2009 (Friday)

Group:            14th Kuching Scout Group (24 members)

All participating members shall be dressed in full uniform and reminded to uphold the image of the district’s scouting movement. On behalf of the Kuching City Rover Council, we would like to wish all a very happy mid autumn festival.

 

 

 

52nd World Scout Jamboree On The Air (JOTA 2009) - Kuching District

Good News!!

The Kuching City Rover Council will be organizing 2 exciting events with the supports from Amateur Radio Club Sarawak (ARCS) in October 2009, namely;

1, Induction to Amateur Radio Workshop

2, 52nd World Jamboree On The Air (JOTA)

 

Induction to Amateur Radio Workshop

Venue: Scout HQ, Jalan Batu Lintang

Date: 4th October 2009 (Sunday)

Time: 7:30a.m. to 1:00p.m.

Attire: Full Scout Uniform

Fees: RM10 (inclusive of 1 certificate of attendance, refreshment and packed lunch)

Participants: For Rover Scouts and Scout Leaders in Kuching City District only. 50 pax max. (first come, first serve basis)

 

Participants will be exposed to topics such as;

1, What is amateur / ham radio?

2, How to use the amateur radio? Usage of amateur radio

3, How it works?

4, Roles of Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)

5, How to converse in amateur radio?

6, What is HF, VHF, UHF?

7, How to register as a member to Amateur Radio Club Sarawak (ARCS)?

8, What is QSL cards?

9, What equipment is needed?

10, What license do we need to operate a station?

11, How to go for Radio Amateur Examination (RAE)?

Etc.

 

All rovers, scouters and JOTA staffs are encouraged to participate in the said workshop

 

52nd World Scout Jamboree On The Air (JOTA 2009)

 

Venue: Scout HQ, Jalan Batu Lintang

Date: 17th ~ 18th October 2009 (Saturday ~ Sunday)

Time: refer to allocated time slots

Attire: Full Scout Uniform

Fees: RM10 (inclusive of 1 certificate of attendance, refreshment, 1 event badge and 1 JOTA challenge badge)

Participants: Open to all scout members in Kuching City District.

 

In conjunction with 52nd World Scout Jamboree On The Air (JOTA 2009), this exciting event is organized to provide opportunities to the local scout members to participate in this world event with the use of amateur / ham radio whereby members will be able to communicate with local and overseas scouts via amateur radio. Invitation letters have been issued to various registered scout groups in Kuching on 18th September 2009. All group’s representatives and GSL are urged to collect the invitation letter (with program and reply slip attached) from BP Center immediately. Please be reminded that the submission of the reply slip and payments shall be done by 27th September 2009 (Sunday). Participants will be given challenging tasks to perform to qualify for the beautiful JOTA Challenge Badge.

 

For the Rovers and Leaders who wished to participate in both events, the fees payable shall be RM18 only. All Rovers, Leaders and scout members from all groups are encouraged to participate in both events.
